Why dye-free candy actually matters
Artificial colours are the one ingredient parents ask about most. Here is what we use instead — and why the fruit tastes better for it.

Walk down any candy aisle and you will see colours that do not exist in nature: a blue raspberry, a neon-green apple. Those shades come from synthetic dyes, and they are the ingredient we get asked about more than any other.
What we use instead
Our dye-free bags are coloured with concentrates pressed from the fruit and vegetables you would recognise in a market — beetroot, carrot, pumpkin, blackcurrant, spinach. It costs more than a dye does, and the colours are a little softer for it.
The part nobody tells you
Because the colour has to come from real fruit, the flavour has to as well. You cannot build a convincing strawberry slice out of a red dye and a sweetener. So the recipe starts with real fruit juice instead.
That is the whole argument, honestly. Dye-free is not a compromise we make. It is the reason the candy tastes like fruit.
